A Huge Thankyou to Glenn & Nicola Geeson

posted 4 Oct 2016, 16:27 by OLOR PA Association

Glenn Geeson decided to step down as OLOR Parents Association Chairman as of Summer 2016. All of the Parents at OLOR would like to Thank Glenn and Nicola for running the PA for 10 magnificent years. They hosted a series wonderful social events for the OLOR community and raised tens of thousands of pounds along the way.
They have shaped the way for the future generations of parents to jump on board and keep the OLOR PA thriving!

Here are Glenn's words on his standing down.

'As most of you will know by now, after 10 hugely enjoyable and happy years, I have made the

very difficult decision to stand down as OLOR Parents' Association Chairman. It is the fact

that I have been supported so generously and enthusiastically by so many of the OLOR parents,

children, teachers and staff, past and present, that makes it a really tough step for me. I have

been offered many kind compliments over the years, particularly very recently but it would be

very selfish of me to take the glory. I have often been the ideas man but it is my amazing wife

Nicola who is the one who has made my thoughts and ideas actually work in practice. Neither she

nor Erin, Niamh or Ruairi have ever complained or tried to stop me when I have been out for an

evening or at the school 'out of hours' preparing for events. There really has never been a dull

moment! I suppose what I am trying to say is TEAMWORK really does make the DREAMWORK!

Come on, I had to sneak it in there didn't I? This was so abundantly evident just a couple of

weeks ago when the 2016 Fete Team put together such a fantastic fete for us all. This made me

feel so happy that I came away from the day confident that the passion that I have for all

things OLOR certainly lives on and that whilst there may be a short period of transition, the PA

is in great hands! I will chair the final PA meeting of the 2015/2016 academic year this week and

really hope that from the enthusiastic emerging PA team some leaders or 'teams of leaders' will

take on the roles of Chair, Secretary and Treasurer that become vacant from September 2016,

overseeing various 'working parties' covering all aspects of the PA.

My enthusiasm and deep rooted love for OLOR is as strong as ever and I will be maintaining my

role as a Foundation Governor of the school for as long as the school will have me and I will

continue to fully support the PA to the absolute best of my abilities. You don't get rid of me

that easily! Nicola remains fully committed to her EYFS leader and teacher roles and continues

to support the school in that way and Ruairi continues to thrive in Year 1.

Nicola and I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for the unnecessary but very

kind card and gift presented to us at the fete. It was such a lovely gesture. Finally thank you to

Mr O'Brien for first letting me realise my dream of being OLOR PA Chairman and

Mr Parascandolo for his continuous support and encouragement. I can honestly say that I have

had an absolute blast, made many lifelong friends and would do it all again in a flash!

Thank you,

Glenn and Nicola Geeson.'

Thank you again to Glenn and Nicola and we hope to see you relaxing and enjoying many future PA events!
