No new spellings over half term! Please ask your child to look back over and practise all of the spellings that have been set since the start of this term.

Maths Homework
MyMaths homework has been set. This week the children have been learning to tell the time to 5 minute intervals (minutes past and minutes to). The children are expected to be able to do this confidently by the end of Year 2. We really need your support in helping your child to practise and learn how to tell the time. It would be really helpful if your child could have access to a clock where they can move the hands. A clock can be made quite easily using a paper plate and a split pin to secure the hands.
Special times:  Long hand on 12 = o'clock, long hand on 3 = 1/4 past, long hand on 6 = 1/2 past and long hand on 9 = 1/4 to.
Minutes past: Put your finger on the 12 and count in fives until you get to the long hand. Write that number down followed by 'past'. Look to see which number to short hand has gone past. Write that number down next.
Minutes to: Put your finger on the number where the long hand is. Count in fives until you get to 12. Write that number down followed by 'to'. Now look to see which number to short had is going to. Write that number down next.
If you are considering purchasing a watch for your child the best ones I have seen are available from this website:
easyreadtimeteacher.com. They are relatively inexpensive.

Technical Guidance for Accessing MyMaths

As MyMaths is a fully online resource you will need nothing but an Internet connection and an up-to-date web browser with inbuilt Flash, or a recent version of Flash installed on your computer.

MyMaths support all the major browsers such as Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Morilla Firefox, but please make sure that your Chrome or Firefox browsers are up to date and that your Internet Explorer is version 9 or higher.

Most Android tablets and mobile devices should be able to access the website using the Chrome or Firefox browser apps (among others), but users of iPad and other non-Flash devices will need to use the free Puffin Academy app, a mobile flash browser.

Spelling Books
Quite a number of children are forgetting to bring their red spelling books into school on a Friday. Please could you make sure that your child has their spelling book in their red bag on a Friday?

Our PE days are on Tuesday and Thursday. Please ensure that your child has a sweatshirt and joggers (navy) for the colder weather. Please could you make sure your daughters have a pair of socks if they are wearing tights on a PE day.
