Thank you to all the parents who came long to our open evening this week.  We hope you enjoyed looking at your child's work and we look forward to seeing you all at our termly learning conferences over the next couple of weeks.  Please contact the office to book an appointment if you haven't already done so.

Over the last two weeks the children have been working on the 2016 sample SATs papers for Reading Comprehension, GPS (Grammar, Punctuation & Spelling) and Maths.  They have marked these with us, so they have a good idea of how they are doing at this early stage of the year.  Next week, these papers will be sent home.  Please take the time to read through each paper with your child, letting them talk you through what they did as well as looking at any areas of difficulty together.  Talking through the papers in this way allows the children to gain a deeper understanding of the areas they need to work on as well as helping them to become familiar with typical SATs style questions.  Many thanks in advance for your support.  The texts used for the reading comprehension paper can be viewed at:

Please remember to access the free online lesson relating to your MyMaths homework whenever you need to.  You can also do this for all your previous MyMaths homeworks whenever you need to revise. The following free website is also a great resource to use:

Please make sure that children have tracksuit tops and bottoms in their P.E bags as we will be outside in all weathers.  Similarly, coats must be worn to school at this time of the year; it's no fun being out on the playground in three degrees wearing just a jumper!

Homework for next week is attached below (see 011. Year 6 Homework wc 19th Nov 18) .You can also scroll down to the bottom of this page to access the following files:
  • Useful questions for reading
  • Year 3-4 spellings (the children must be able to spell these correctly in their independent writing before moving on to the Year 5-6 words)
  • Year 5-6 spellings
  • Year 6 Maths objectives
  • Suggested reading for Year 6
Parents, please remember to check your child's bag for letters on a regular basis and to help them to keep their pens, pencils, homework diary and locker key safe and organised.   Please remember that one simple key ring or lanyard is all that is needed for your child's locket key.

Stationery
Just a gentle, but important, reminder that children need to come to school with a green biro and a glue stick in their pencil cases.  Pencil cases must be small enough to fit into a tray.  Please encourage your child to look after the pen and pencil they are given and to make sure they do not get left at home.  Thank you for your co-operation.

Please ensure that every item of clothing, including ties, shoes and P.E kits, is clearly labelled with your child's name.
